01 / Overview
Make pet care easier to find and understand.
My Pet is a one-stop pet care platform for people navigating the responsibilities of pet ownership. The concept connects veterinary care, grooming, training, boarding, and reliable care information, with a particular focus on novice pet owners in Kerala.
The project aimed to make essential guidance and trusted local services accessible in a single mobile experience.
02 / Research
Build trust around a new responsibility.
The pet care sector in Kerala was growing, but finding dependable services and accurate information remained difficult. The study combined market and competitor research with semi-structured interviews and a user survey.

Understand the existing landscape.

Listen to novice pet owners.
Six participants took part in interviews and discussions, followed by a survey with 20 users. The research explored care practices, knowledge, responses to critical situations, and difficulties with existing services.
Trust drives decisions
Family, friends, and people with first-hand experience were important sources of guidance.
Excitement meets uncertainty
New owners described excitement alongside tension and responsibility for a dependent life.
Services can be hard to discover
Limited awareness of hostels and training services made them harder to evaluate and trust.
Information can add anxiety
Broad online symptom searches could lead users to severe conditions and unnecessary worry.

Consider the wider care network.
Stakeholder analysis mapped service providers, customers, government agencies, financial stakeholders, and intermediaries to understand their influence and priorities.

03 / Design direction
Guidance and services in one place.
Research was organised into affinity clusters, followed by a persona and opportunity areas. The direction centred on access, trustworthy information, confidence in service providers, and better organisation of pet-related records.

Design a platform that improves pet owners’ experience in Kerala through better access to pet care facilities, information, and guidance.
Find dependable care
Help owners discover veterinary clinics, experienced doctors, training, boarding, and grooming.
Make guidance reliable
Provide detailed care information and build awareness of available facilities.
Organise pet information
Keep pet data together and support owners in managing ongoing care.
Connect the community
Help owners learn from similar pet owners and connect the service ecosystem.
04 / Experience structure
Turn the care ecosystem into clear journeys.
Brainstorming explored how services, information, records, and social connections could work together. The information architecture then translated those ideas into an application structure.

Organise the application.

Establish a visual system.
The visual direction combines a warm, approachable pet identity with clear typography, reusable icons, and a consistent colour palette.

05 / The solution
A companion for everyday pet care.
Get started and personalise care.

Manage upcoming appointments.
Appointment details bring timing, directions, provider contact information, and rescheduling together. Cancellation confirmations explain the implications and offer an alternative action.

Discover local care and facilities.

Find training and the right expert.

Keep favourites and conversations together.

Learn from the community.

Keep a profile for each pet.

06 / Next steps
Extend assistance beyond booking.
The original project proposed expanding the platform’s assistance through a connected source of reliable pet care information, appointment preparation reminders, and vaccination reminders.
For example, a medical appointment reminder could prompt an owner to bring their pet’s health records. Recognising repeated service logs was also proposed as a way to suggest future care reminders. These remain ideas for further development.
